Buttsuji Temple / 佛通寺

Buttsuji Temple is a historic Zen temple located in the mountains of Mihara City, Hiroshima.

It is especially famous for its beautiful autumn colors, when the temple grounds are surrounded by red and orange maple leaves.

Although it is a well-known autumn destination among local people in Hiroshima, it remains a quiet place with very few international visitors.

Because access by public transportation is limited, visiting by car or taxi is usually the easiest option for travelers.

For photographers, Buttsuji offers a unique atmosphere — old temple buildings, stone paths, forests, flowing water, and seasonal colors blending together.

Recommended season:
Mid to late November for autumn leaves.

This is a place to experience a quieter side of Hiroshima beyond the famous tourist routes.
