About This Location

Takadaniyama Sea of Clouds Observatory is a scenic viewpoint in Miyoshi, Hiroshima, famous for its sea of clouds and beautiful sunset views. On clear mornings, fog can fill the valleys below, creating a spectacular sea of clouds. A live camera is available online, making it possible to check the fog conditions before visiting. The image quality of the camera is not particularly high, but it is a very useful way to see whether the conditions are promising.

Access is easiest by car, as public transportation does not reach the observatory directly. From the parking area, it takes less than five minutes on foot to reach the viewpoint. A toilet is available near the parking area. Deer are frequently seen in the area, so drivers should be especially careful when approaching the observatory, particularly around dawn and dusk.
