About This Location

Hidden Higanbana River Spot is a quiet riverside location in the Hongō area of Mihara City.

This is not a famous sightseeing destination, but a small seasonal landscape known mainly by local people.

Around the beginning of October, wild higanbana (red spider lilies) bloom naturally along the riverside.

What makes this place especially unique is the presence of white higanbana flowers growing together with the traditional red ones. Even many Japanese people rarely see naturally growing white higanbana.

Unlike a maintained flower garden, this scenery exists as part of the local landscape — appearing only for a short period each year.

Best season:
Around October 1st
(Flower timing may change depending on weather conditions.)

For photographers, it is a rare opportunity to capture traditional Japanese autumn colors, riverside scenery, and a hidden side of Hiroshima.
