Mount Oe
Minamoto no Raikō and his warriors travel to Mount Oe to defeat the powerful demon Shuten-dōji. The story combines deception, drinking, and a spectacular battle between warriors and demons.
A powerful demon named Shuten-dōji has established his stronghold on Mount Oe and terrorizes the surrounding region. Emperor Ichijō orders Minamoto no Raikō and his warriors to destroy the demon. Disguised as Buddhist monks, Raikō and his companions approach the demon's mountain fortress. They are welcomed by Shuten-dōji, who does not realize their true identities. Through deception and a special sake that weakens the demons, the warriors gain the advantage and eventually defeat Shuten-dōji and his followers.

Watch the contrast between the disguised warriors and the demons of Mount Oe. The drinking scene creates a deceptive sense of calm before the battle begins. Once the warriors reveal their true purpose, the performance shifts dramatically into a fierce fight with Shuten-dōji and the other demons.
