Carp Rookie Tai Sasaki Determined to Improve With Runners in Scoring Position as September Push Begins

Hiroshima Carp rookie Tai Sasaki is determined to improve his performance with runners in scoring position as the team enters a crucial stretch of the season.

Sasaki is currently batting just .169 with runners in scoring position, a number he knows needs to improve.

“I haven't been able to hit in my usual way very often. I want to overcome that as soon as possible.”

The 22-year-old has established himself as a regular in the Carp lineup, starting 26 consecutive games and settling into the No. 6 spot in the batting order.

Sasaki believes the biggest issue is the consistency of his approach in important situations.

“There are at-bats where I have a clear idea of what pitch I'm looking for, and there are at-bats where I don't.”

Improving that decision-making and increasing the accuracy of his approach will be a major focus for Sasaki as the season enters its final month.

The rookie has already earned a significant role in Hiroshima's lineup despite being in his first professional season. With the Carp fighting to climb back into the race for a postseason spot, his ability to produce with runners on base could become increasingly important.

September represents a crucial opportunity for Hiroshima, with very little room for error remaining in the race for a Climax Series berth.

Sasaki understands the importance of the situation.

“We can't afford to lose even one game. I want to contribute to winning.”

With 26 consecutive starts behind him and a regular place in the middle of the Carp lineup, Sasaki now has a clear goal: sharpen his approach, improve his production in scoring situations and help Hiroshima make its push toward the postseason.
