Kounosuke Tatsumi Reaches 20 Steals as Carp Speedster Makes Impact in Victory Over Hanshin

Hiroshima Carp speedster Kounosuke Tatsumi recorded his 20th stolen base of the season in the team's 6-1 victory over the Hanshin Tigers. Despite making most of his appearances as a pinch runner, the 25-year-old has already reached the 20-steal mark.

Hiroshima Toyo Carp speedster Kounosuke Tatsumi reached an important milestone on August 14, stealing his 20th base of the season in Hiroshima's 6-1 victory over the Hanshin Tigers at Mazda Stadium.

Tatsumi entered the game as a pinch runner in the eighth inning after Kaito Kozono reached base with a single.

With one out and a runner on first, Tatsumi took off and successfully stole second base with a head-first slide, giving him 20 steals on the season.

He then advanced to third on Takaki Ishihara's ground ball before scoring the Carp's sixth run on a pinch-hit RBI single by Elfreis Montero.

The milestone is particularly impressive considering Tatsumi has spent most of the season in a specialist role as a pinch runner rather than an everyday player.

His ability to change games with his speed has made him one of Hiroshima's most valuable weapons off the bench.

With 20 stolen bases already on the season, Tatsumi has established himself as a genuine threat whenever he reaches base—and a key part of the Carp's efforts to create offense through aggressive baserunning.
